Being home is lovely
Life at home has been amazing! These past few months have been a huge blessing. There are so many updates, but ill try to keep them short and positive. Even though Frida is still connected to an oxygen machine she has been improving every day. She is finally in the clear and her heart function is where it should be. Frida Sofia sits for a long period of time and dislikes laying down. This is mostly because I can almost assure you that she has FOMO (fear of missing out). She is in the stage where she doesn't want to miss a thing.
We skipped baby food completely and went straight into table foods. Y'all she would not want anything in puree form. I started with veggies and went into fruits. Nothing! she would tighten her lips. One day we tried beans while eating breakfast just to see what she would do. She liked it! A true bean lol We have been trying a little bit of everything. So far she loves soup with rice, potato, and carrots. She still likes beans and homemade tortillas (picky). Green beans are still new as well as avocado. I'm not sure what she feels yet. She will eat it but its not her favorite and it varies when she will eat it or not.
This little stinker is really getting the hang of things. She tries to get things she is not supposed to when we step out of the room; oxygen, monitors, and cellphone. Given that she had access to my phone when they would put an IV or during an echo, but at home she doesn't have access to it. Even when she will face-time she isn't allowed to hold it. She typically likes manipulative toys rather than light up singing toys, but smartphone are an exception.
I'm not 100% sure if she will crawl before walking. Even though we practice it is a struggle to just be on her knees. She would rather put weight on her legs standing than go on all fours. Frida Sofia is enjoying tummy time so much! I honestly did not think she ever would because she would scream bloody murder before. Now she rolls to her tummy so easily. Maybe she will be like that with crawling. That is what we are working now and going from a laying position to sitting.
In just a few weeks she will be turning 1 years old! Time went crazy fast even all that we went through. I honestly do feel robbed because she has officially spent half her first year in the hospital and probably a little less than a fourth sedated. The longest she has been home is right now at three and a half months. Hopefully she doesn't have to go back until her last surgery in a year or two. We have honestly done everything in our hand to keep her from getting sick. We limit outings, visits, and contact with people when we do decide to take her out.
As of now her favorite things are her penguin stuffed animal and watching Happy Feet (she finally likes the first version). She also loves bath time! For some reason a red solo cup is more interesting than toys in the bath tub. Taking out toys out of her toy bins is her thing. Typically taking one out at a time while sitting on her little bench. Seriously the cutest thing ever because she looks so grown. She LOVES to dance! Frida finally said MAAAA, given its only when shes fussy and tired but ill take it! Drinking water is a big no no but if there is a straw around she wants you to giver her some holing the other end.
